Fifty years ago, Declaration of the Rights of the Child was promulgated by United Nations General Assembly. Obviously, the aim of the law was to protecting children’s basic rights and freedoms. Ten Basic Principles such as the principle of best benefit and the principle of priority are included. Besides, the Declaration emphasized a statement that children should be protected priority under all circumstances. In 1989, UN Passed Convention on the Rights of Children, which is another relevant law to protect child’s right. Some basic rights like the right to life, the right of privacy and the freedom of speech are mentioned in the law. The Convention requires all the countries participated should take necessary measures to protect the rights of children. China signed this convention in August 29, 1990 and became the 110th ratified states.

In China, the Law on the Protection of Minors was passed to fulfill the promise of protecting child’s right. Although many achievements have been achieved, we have to admit that there is a long distance between our current situation and the ideal state described in the Convention. All kinds of prejudices about Children are existed in society.

In family, it’s natural for parents to take good care of their child. But in most cases, parents usually don’t respect the children’s wishes, violate of children’s privacy and deprive of the child’s freedom of choice. In many parents’ eyes, their children are so naive and ignorance that their decision should be determined by parents. For example, many parents forced their children to learn what they thought useful but their children don’t interested in. better for children’s future is the excuse they often taken. Actually, most children have the ability to judge what right is and what wrong is. Children who have received secondary education know their interest and have the ability to plan for the future. From survey, the result of coercion sometimes gets serious consequences. The health of children’s physical and mental can be hurt, what’s more, cases of corporal punishment and child abuse also repeatedly been reported to reveal parents’ authoritarianism.

In addition, school and society should take effective means to protect children’s right. People hope that China, a country joined in the Convention, should do more to safeguard children’s rights.

The new buzz on the internet is all about getting one-way links by distributing content to other sites in exchange for backlinks. As with every other SEO or website promotion technique ever devised, there are plenty of newbie myths about it that can ruin your chance for success before you even start. Newbie Myth 1: The “Duplicate content penalty.” Some webmasters worry that if the content on their sites is suddenly on hundreds of other sites, search engines will inflict a “duplicate content penalty.” Why is this concern unjustified? * If this were true, every major newspaper and news portal website would now be de-indexed from the search engines, since they all carry “duplicate content” from the news wires such as Reuters and the Associated Press. * Thousands of self-promoting internet gurus have proven that distributing content is an effective method of improving search engine rank. * Even more thousands of content websites have proven that republishing this content does not carry any search engine penalty. True, the first website to publish an article often seems to be favored by search engines, ranking higher for the same content in searches than higher-PageRank pages with the same content. But the “duplicate” pages do show up in the search engine results, even if lower than the original site. Meanwhile, the reprint content has no effect on the ranking of a site’s other pages. The only duplicate content penalty is for duplication of content across pages of a single website. Meanwhile, there is a sort of “copyright theft” penalty, whereby someone who copies content without permission can be manually removed from search engine indexes out of respect for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. But that penalty is only for flagrant theft, not minor mistakes in attributing reprint content. Newbie Myth 2: The goal is to get in article clearinghouse websites. There are over 100 popular, high-traffic websites that act as clearinghouses for content made available for redistribution. These websites include isnare.com, amazines.com, and goarticles.com. Many novice content-distributors are upset when the article clearinghouse websites, with tens of thousands of articles each with a backlink, pass negligible PageRank. But the point of distributing content to those websites is for other website owners to find your content and put it on their websites–not to get a backlink directly from the clearinghouse website (though this is sometimes an unexpected bonus). Plus, to maximize PageRank-passing links, you also have to submit articles to website owners individually. It’s not a small amount of work. But there’s no substitute for a polite, individually crafted email recommending a website owner complement his or her existing articles with one you’ve written. Myth 3: Any content will do. Reality: It should be obvious that many website owners, jealous of their link popularity, will only republish exceptionally high – quality content. For articles, this means a unique point of view and solid information that cannot be found just anywhere, ideally presented in compelling language in a web-optimized format by a professional published writer. You can conduct a content distribution campaign with bad content, but you’ll be handicapping yourself from the start. Myth 4: Distributing content is easy. Just hit “send.” Reality: Content distribution campaign requires skillful planning to target publisher websites effectively. This is essentially a four-step process. 1. You must identify the categories of websites most likely to republish your articles. These categories range from the very broad, such as internet, business, and family, and can go as narrow as family-friendly internet businesses. It’s a careful balance: you need to make your target category narrowly relevant to maximize the value of the link and your chances of getting your article accepted for publication. But if you target too narrow a category, you’ll lower the maximum number of links you can hope to get. For instance, a website on web content writing has to target its content distribution to more than just sites focusing on web content. There are only so many websites devoted to web content as a topic of interest, and besides, many such websites would be competitors. Distribution should target broadly relevant categories, such as web design, webmaster issues, writing, marketing, business, website promotion, and SEO. Yet some broadly related categories, such as internet or publishing, are not relevant enough to yield good results. 2. To maximize success, you must have articles custom-created for each major category you want to submit to. “Incorporating Content in Web Design” and “Marketing with Content” would be possible titles for a web content-writing website owner targeting web design and marketing websites, respectively. An article about web design won’t appeal as strongly to marketers, or vice versa, so simply submitting to websites having to do with “the web” would not be as effective. 3. For maximum success, articles custom-written for a category then often have to be refined for sub-categories. For instance, “Incorporating Content in Web Design” becomes “Incorporating Content into Flash Web Design,” or “Incorporating Content into Accessible Web Design.” Sometimes the refinement is just a “find and replace” of one keyword for another, sometimes just in the title. Sometimes, entire paragraphs have to reworded or removed. 4. Once you’ve identified sub-categories of websites, you still have to be able to meet the requirements of individual websites. Some sites only publish articles up to 500 words, some only do how-to articles. Owners of high-ranking websites can afford to be choosey. To really maximize results within a sub-category, you need at least three different articles of varying lengths and focus specifically geared toward that sub-category. In the end, distributing content for website promotion and inbound links is a marvelously effective way of promoting a website. But it’s not magic beans. Like anything else having to do with achieving success on the web, it takes hard work and knowledge to be successful.

The No. 22 World AIDS Day is coming on December 1, 2009. A survey from China shows that in China more than 2,000 AIDS-infected persons had the experience of discrimination. Many government officials, teachers and even medical workers discriminate against AIDS patients. A lot of works on preventing AIDS and eliminating discrimination against AIDS had been done by government department of health, medical institutions and non-governmental organizations since the first AIDS patients was found in 1985 in China, but 24 years have passed, the public still have strong discrimination to AIDS-infected persons. So it is time for our government officials and medical workers to reflect why there is no right knowledge and attitude to AIDS-infected persons.

Discrimination against AIDS-infected persons has many negative impacts such as preventing AIDS-infected persons’ recovery and hindering the work of preventing AIDS. Because of discrimination, many AIDS patients don’t want to tell other people the truth, which may increase the risk of being infected for healthy persons. Because of discrimination, many people who often do high-risk behaviors such as taking drugs or feculent sexual intercourse refuse to accept AIDS testing, which can also raise the risk of being infected. Because of discrimination, many AIDS patients do not get proper help and treatment. All in all, once AIDS patients lost their sources of livelihood due to discrimination. They are vulnerable to transmit AIDS virus and have desire for revenge.

AIDS Prevention work is an important event which relates to people’s lives and health. Experience from many countries has showed that the governments always play an important role in preventing AIDS. Relevant laws can be passed by governments to protect AIDS patients’ rights. At the same time, governments can provide sufficient funds, which can be used for AIDS medical research. What should we do for AIDS patients? As the saying goes, love is the best medicine to cure all kinds of illness. So we should give more humanistic care and love to them. Finally, in older to make a further promotion in this work, we should make a deeper study of the special mind and behavior factors in AIDS propaganda, counseling, prevention and treatment.

Curry is the English description of any of a general variety of spiced dishes, best known in Asian cuisines, especially South Asian cuisine. Curry is a generic term, and although there is no one specific attribute that marks a dish as “curry”, some of the distinctive spices used in some, though certainly not all, curry dishes include turmeric, red pepper and cumin. Currently, the term curry is used broadly, in English, to refer to almost any spiced, sauce-based dishes cooked in various southern and southeastern Asian styles. In India the word “curry” is heavily used in the southern part of India in languages such as Tamil. “Curry” is analogous to “sabzi” in the north. The word “kari” has its origins in Old Tamil which means “flesh”. The word for gravy (of any sort) is “kolambu” in Tamil. Therefore any gravy prepared with meat in it, was known as “kari kolambu” which means “meat gravy”. In a later development, any gravy with meat in it came to be called “kari”.Cuisine (from French cuisine, “cooking; culinary art; kitchen”; ultimately from Latin coquere, “to cook”) is a specific set of cooking traditions and practices, often associated with a specific culture.

Candida starts to develop in the gut as a fungus, and at the same time creates its ideal environment inside the gut. Unfortunately, the environment in which Candida thrive means that the pH balance is acidic. This acidity inhibits the bodies’ ability to absorb vitamins and minerals, and it limits enzyme production of digestive proteins. One of the side effects of limited enzymes leads to indigestion symptoms, wind or gas, a sense of the intestines being bloated or swollen, increased acid levels and sensitivities to certain types of food.

As your body finds it difficult to digest certain foods, it is best to avoid them. Sugar feeds Candida and that includes the fructose a fruit sugar, so you should avoid eating sugar and fresh or dried fruit. Alcohol is a type of sugar and is a direct food source for Candida. In some areas, water has certain chemicals added by the local water board, and in the majority of cases, it is beneficial, but some Candida sufferers find that chlorinated water can aggravate the condition. As an alternative drink distilled water, there is no guarantee that bottled water is not chlorine free.

One downside of the Candida diet is that it is very restrictive and a very strict regimen, also from a nutritional stand point, it is not good for you. This diet is not a fast easy solution for the Candida sufferer and it takes a lot of commitment. Individual recovery times differ, but as a rule many Candida sufferers’ report that you have to be on the diet for one month for every year which you have had Candida. That means, if you have had Candida for 27 years, then you need to follow the diet for twenty seven months.

Its purpose is to starve the yeast organisms which are causing the symptoms. Again, the diet is not very nutritionally sound and as you are already not getting the full benefits of the food you are eating, it may be a good idea to take multivitamins.

In addition, when you undertake the Candida Cleanse diet you have to stick with all of it, if you have one alcoholic drink, you have fed the yeast infection and the imbalance will reoccur. The Candida Yeast Diet is not very aptly named, more correctly it should be the Candida No yeast diet, and although it is a very strict and unforgiving regimen, it does work, it will starve the Candida yeast infection.

A note about sugar, there are effective sugar substitutes, chemical sweeteners are not good for you and are best avoided, but there are natural sweeteners derived from plants. An example is Vegetable Glycerine which, while it can be extracted from many plants normally comes from the coconut palm. It is available at health stores in a liquid form and you use it as you would honey but it is sweeter.

Stevia is another plant based natural sugar substitute, but it is purely a sugar. The vegetable glycerine has a raising agent added that will make cakes or other baked good rise.

Diet That encourage the growth of yeast and should be avoided
AVOID
All sweets including hidden sweeteners in processed foods, such as soups, all fruit and fruit juice.
Avoid grains such as prepared flake cereals
sprouted grain cereals such as:

Amaranth,
Buckwheat,
Corn,
Millet,
Rice,
Rye,
Spelt,
Wheat.

Avoid
Granola,
Pearl barley,
Instant oats,
Cornmeal, degerminated
Hominy grits, degerminated
Microwave popcorn
Blue corn meal

Pasta:

Pasta is flour and water, the flour may be white bread flour and it may be durum flour made from semolina. All types of noodles are made from the same base and they should all be cut out of the diet, with Bufin, the Japanese noodles, Ramen instant noodles, farina, semolina and white flour noodles and pastas.

Baked goods and Breads

Avoid all cakes, pastries, cookies doughnuts or other processed baked food containing sugar. This list includes white bread, or any bread containing wheat, which includes parathas, nanas bread, pita bread, white flour tortillas, wheat dough tortillas, sourdough, or any other ethnic bread made from wheat. Mochi the sweet unleavened bread made from brown rice should be avoided.

Legumes:

Avoid beans and peas with sweeteners, bean sprouts, tempeh which a type of fermented tofu, tofu and textured vegetable protein.

Nuts & Seeds:
Coconut,
Peanuts,
Pistachios,
Walnuts

Dairy Products:
Buttermilk,
Soymilk (sweetened),
All kinds of cheeses,
Cottage cheese,
Kefir,
Milk,
Sour cream
Crème fraîche
Sweetened yogurt.

Fruit:

Never eat dried fruit, and when you start the Candida cleanse diet it is best to avoid all fruit because of the fructose the sugar it contains. Once you have eliminated the current Candida infection then eat fruit with a moderate amount of sugar. Low sugar fruits are apples, grapefruit, melon,
and strawberries.

Beverages:

Alcohol,
Cereal beverages,
Coffee both regular and decaffeinated
Fruit juices
Soft drinks including the diet soft drinks.
Processed tea drinks such as lemon tea.
All fruit teas,
Black tea

Condiments and Sauces:

No
Ketchup or catsup or any type of tomato sauce
Cream sauces such as Alfredo
Steak sauce,
NO
Capers,
Dried or powdered garlic,
Miso,
Dried or powdered onion,
Pickles or chutneys, which include anything made with sugar and distilled vinegar.
Spices,
Distilled vinegar
Sauerkraut,
Proteins:
Meat products such as beef chicken or pork have added antibiotics and hormones and they should be avoided if you want to eat meat then eat free-range organic products. Smoked meats such as bacon, sausages and salami products such as pepperoni have added sugar and should be cut out of your diet.

Vegetables Avoid:

Beetroot
Canned tomatoes
Carrots
Cucumber skins,
Mushrooms (all types),
Potato skins,
Prepared soups,
Canned tomatoes

Eat:

Beans,
Broccoli,
Brussels sprouts
Cabbage,
Cauliflower,
Celery,
Cucumbers
Green pepper,
Kale,
Lettuce
Onion, radishes,
Parsley,
Peas,
Rocket or arugulla
Spinach,
Tomatoes,

The landscape is strong, endless and impressive.

The plain defines the territory, a wavy plain that changes its colours each season: in Winter green is dominating, in Springtime a blanket of flowers of different shades transforms the region into a festival of colour, in Summer we are struck by the sense of dryness and heat conveyed by the golden that conquers everything; finally, in Autumn the fields are ploughed and sown, and the colour brown rules in countless shades of land. And everything starts over again!

The landscape is the first sensation we have on arriving to the region, we should find out what is beyond this first impression.

Landscape is life..
..it is the wild nature that has shared this territory with mankind for thousands of years.

There are several habitats included in the Natura 2000 Network, such as the Special Protection Area (SPA) of Moura/Barrancos and Mourao home of birds of prey, black storks and cranes; the SPA of Castro Verde, that has the only zonal plan of the country and is a sanctuary for the steppe birds; or yet the SPA of Guadiana which includes the Natural Park of the Guadiana Valley, where the famous waterfalll of Pulo do Lobo is located.

It is the reflex of history!

In this area we have evidence of human presence since remote times: archaeological sites, castles, churches, old mines, museums where pastime artifacts are on exhibition, or simply small hamlets and villages with their traditional buildings show the various cultural influence this region underwent throughout time.

It is the people who live here, with their knowledge and experience, with their traditions and culture. The religious and popular feasts are scattered throughout the whole region: all the villages are embellished to celebrate their patron saints, especially in summer.

The fairs and markets, former occasions for meetings and trade, are today modernized to be a show of the local products and activities; the Cante (traditional polyphonic singing) is also a pretext for meetings and festivals in all the places with tradition in this art.

It is the scents and smells that are wisely transformed into flavours!

The gastronomy is one of the region’s best visiting cards. The cheeses are of goat and sheep’s milk, and the most famous is the one from Serpa; the smoked hams and sausages, especially from Barrancos, are prepared from black pig. The local wheat bread together with herbs as coriander, pennyroyal or mint is the base for several delicious dishes such as the “migas”, “acordas” and “ensopados”. Some of the choice dishes are “gaspacho”, “ensopado de borrego” (Lamb stew), “carne do alguidar”, “sopa da panela”, “sopa de Beldroegas”, “sopa de cacao” and “acorda de bacalhau”; but there are also the stewed broad beans, peas with eggs, chick peas stew or game dishes.

Sweetmeats are also a must and they reach their peak with the old convent recipes such as “pao de rala” or “trouxas de ovos”, but popular cakes like the “popias”, “nogados” or “pasteis de grao” are also a temptation.

The wines from Vidigueira, Moura and Pias have tradition but outside these areas new vineyards are growing and new wines are being created.

And because we’re talking about landscape and food, we cannot forget the olive oil one of the best known regional products, particularly the one from Moura.

However, not everything is landscape and there is a lot to do in this Region: open air activities like hunting, fishing, birdwatching, cycling, horse riding, canoing, paragliding, karting, and also cultural activities from the annual calendar of events such as the Planicie Mediterranica, Encontros de Comunidades Mineiras (Meeting of Mining Communities), the cartoon exhibition, the Islamic Festival or the International Documentary Film Seminar Doc’s Kingdom.

For all these reasons, the Planicie Dourada is a region to discover!

There are lots of foods that can help you lose weight. Just know that you have to switch to those foods. You can’t expect to add raw carrots to your fried food and sodas, and lose weight.

No, you don’t have to exist on raw carrots and celery. They are great weight loss foods, though – as are all the others listed below. If you can get at least 75% fruit and vegetables at each meal, with the balance being the lowest fat and sugar you can get, you will start losing weight on the very first day.

But here’s an easy way to do it: Gradually substitute a weight loss food for a food that puts on weight. Eat more of the substitute weight loss food and less of the fattening.

Give yourself a time limit – perhaps two weeks. After that you will be easily be able to choose the foods that cause weight loss, and you won’t believe just how fast the pounds come off.

So here are the main foods you need to eat, the foods that make you lose weight:

1.	Anything fresh, especially:

- Raw vegetables

Celery, carrots, caulflower, broccoli, tomatos, cucumber, peppers, lettuce, baby spinach

- Fresh fruit

Apples, pears, melons, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, plums, peaches, apricots

- Green vegetables

Lettuce of all varieties, spinach, brussel sprouts, zucchini, peas, string beans

- Any green, red and orange vegetables, raw or steamed

- Sprouted seeds and grains

2.	Anything with a lot of fiber, such as:

- Fruit

- Vegetables

- Beans of all kinds

- Whole grains

Buckwheat, spelt, brown rice, wheat, corn, rolled oats, quinoa

3.	Water

- Yes, just water. You can add a little lemon or lime juice for a refreshing taste

- Drinking plenty of water increases your metabolism, and burns fat

And here are some substitutes for the major foods we tend to eat every day:

Bread – a heavy whole grain bread. The best, healthiest bread is made only of sprouted grains.

Soda – water or freshly made juice. Remember that diet soda still causes fat to be stored. There’s no easy way around it – and kind of soda puts on weight. The best thing to do is get to love a healthy drink – try a little lemon or lime juice in your water.

Burger patty – a skinless chicken breast, or any kind of beans. Buy the beans canned and rinse them well under running water.

French fries – baked potato. You can make oven-baked fries, too.

Chocolate – Substitute with a little candy, crystallized ginger or fruit, sweet grapes, or sugar-free (and sugar-substitute-free) jam on a rye cracker. Or, if you have a lot of self-control, eat one small square of chocolate, letting it melt in your mouth and last for several minutes.

The average modern day Spanish kitchen is really not that different to any other modern kitchen, you can find the microwave, the blender, ready meals and packet mixes. However, there remains the traditional essentials of cookware and ingredients which are used daily in Spanish cooking and are all important to create your own piece of Spain at home.

Each Spanish pantry or larder always contains a ready supply of the most essential everyday ingredients and accessories from olive oil to onions and the paella pan to the cazuela.

The Spanish are sometimes criticised for the amount of oil they use in cooking, it is used in almost every recipe and is even used when frying sweet dishes. Extra Virgin olive oil, though is the oil of choice due to its renowned health benefits and unique flavour. Some people prefer an ordinary virgin olive oil but very rarely are other types of oil used in Spanish cooking as they have a blander taste although are considered less expensive. Extra virgin olive oil can be quite pricey but the use of a good one needn’t prove expensive. When using a good quality extra virgin olive oil, remember that it expands on heating so don’t overdo it. Also the quality is such that it can be reused five or six times. Once cooled, the oil can be strained and stored in jars for the next time but always store oil for frying fish in separate containers.

Extra virgin olive oil is used frequently in marinades and dressings and for a milder taste, it can be mixed with other types of oil. Olive oil for cooking should never be mixed with other types of oil however, as during heating possible toxins can be released. If you want to create a traditional Spanish dish, extra virgin olive oil is essential for that all important ‘taste of Spain’, there really is no substitute.

For Spanish cooking, always have two or three bulbs of garlic at hand. Along with extra virgin olive oil, it is probably the most frequently used ingredient and it can be used in a variety of ways. Raw garlic is of course at its most powerful, rub some over a slice of toast with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt for a truly traditional Spanish style breakfast.

Raw garlic finely chopped is used in marinades or for salad dressings, the amount used depending on personal taste. Cooked garlic will loose some of its bite but other ingredients in the recipe will take on its flavour. Garlic can be roasted whole, then crushed and added back to the pot, it can be inserted into meat for roasting or simply chopped or crushed and added to the pot or pan.

A vital partner to garlic is the pestle and mortar. Use the pestle to squash a garlic clove for easy peeling. The mortar is essential when preparing small amounts garlic and other herbs and spices. When mixing a variety of ingredients together, start with the smaller, hard ingredients such as peppercorns or cloves, then move onto the garlic or saffron for example. The softer herbs like parsley should be mixed in last. It is important to add liquid to your mix, whether wine, sherry or water, use them to form a paste with your ingredients. This is especially important for saffron as it must be crushed and blended with liquid before being used as your rice dish will not have an even colour.

Used regularly, although quite expensive and exotic, saffron is what gives rice dishes such as the paella its lovely golden yellow colour. Saffron is collected by hand and is the tiny part of the crocus which explains the high cost. Only a tiny amount is needed however, so it is worthwhile keeping in your store cupboard.

Other essential Spanish herbs are oregano, thyme rosemary and parsley. Parsley is used so frequently that it is given away free in fish shops and butchers. Thyme is an excellent accompaniment to chicken and a sprig of rosemary makes an excellent kebab stick. All of these herbs can be grown quite easily in the Spanish kitchen garden.

Although not used everyday, two important Spanish spices are paprika and cayenne pepper or indeed whole chillies, dried or fresh. Paprika can be smoked or not, sweet (dulce) or spicy (picante) and is one of the most important ingredients when preparing the traditional chorizo for it’s colour and flavour. A spoon full of paprika will add colour and flavour to any marinade or cooking sauce and add chopped chillies to any dish for added bite such as gambas al pil-pil.

Along with saffron, to create the perfect paella, the ‘paellero’ or paella pan is a hugely important piece of Spanish kitchen equipment. This large round shallow pan has been used for generations to prepare the world famous Spanish dish of fish or chicken and rabbit with rice. There are different variations of pan available but the most important feature is that it must be large enough to cook a dish for all the family!

The earthenware dish or ‘cazuela’ makes a regular appearance in the Spanish kitchen. Available from the very small for serving tapas, to the enormous, they are such a versatile piece of cookware that no Spanish kitchen is complete without one. They can be used over an open fire, on the barbecue, in the oven or over the hob, plus they retain the heat after cooking – perfect for gambas al pil-pil, a classic spicy dish of chilli and garlic prawns. To get the best out of your cazuela, soak overnight before the first use and heat to temperature gently.

For larger dishes, such as the traditional winter ‘cocido’ or stews and soups, the Spanish ‘olla’ or large casserole dish which is fat in the middle and narrow at the top and bottom, is vital in the Spanish kitchen. Available in a variety of materials, it is great for cooking over an open fire.

No Spanish kitchen or indeed household should be without the Serrano ham, cured for at least a year high up in the mountains, the Serrano ham is the cornerstone of traditional Spanish gastronomy. The Serrano ham is found in all bars, restaurants and Spanish kitchens and is kept on display for easy access in its specialist jamonero or ham stand. The Serrano ham, when carved in wafer thin sliced using the specialist ham carving knife, also an essential in the Spanish kitchen, makes for the perfect tapas or raciones dish. Simply drizzle with olive oil or serve with almonds, manchego cheese or broad beans for a truly authentic Spanish delight. The best thing though about having a Serrano ham permanently in your kitchen, is that you can just carve off a slice whenever the mood takes you.

The leftover bone of the ham is used to make a stock or ‘caldo’ essential for adding flavour to soups and stews.

Another Spanish classic is the ‘Tortilla de Patatas” or Spanish omelette, which is truly delicious, simple to make and requires only the most basic of essentials from the Spanish kitchen. Always keep at least a dozen eggs in your Spanish kitchen as you will need at least eight to make a good sized omelette. Potatoes and onions are also vital in many Spanish dishes and red onions are often found in salads as they are sweeter and have less bite.

Never be without a few fresh, ripe tomatoes as the Spanish enjoy them almost daily in many different ways. Fresh juicy chunks are great in salads and one or two sliced with a drizzle of olive oil are popular to finish off a meal. Fresh tomatoes are often chopped or blended then slowly reduced to create a lovely homemade tomato salsa, used either on its own or added to other dishes such as spicy chorizo with pasta. For a variation to your Spanish style breakfast, chop a tomato in half and rub it over your toast with a drizzle of olive oil and some slices of Serrano ham – perfect.

The ‘barra’ or French style stick of fresh bread is a daily essential too. It is served with every meal and many Spanish people just can’t eat a meal without it!

Wine is also an important part of Spanish eating culture and cooking. Red wine is enjoyed at meal times while a nice bottle of white always goes down well as an aperitif. Keep white wine handy for use with chicken dishes or steamed mussels – a favourite at the table. Rabbit and beef dished are enhanced by a drop or two of red wine so have a bottle in the rack. Spanish wines are among the best in the world but needn’t be expensive so you can enjoy that added extra of Spanish warmth without breaking the bank.

Many of these Spanish kitchen essentials are found easily and are indeed used everyday in other types of cooking, what makes them special is how they are used. So stock up, get creative and add a bit of Spanish sunshine to your table.

I have a friend who grows figs in her backyard. She has three different Fig varieties! She also proudly tells me that her figs are organic as well. All young trees, most of her fruit comes from the smallest tree of all. Its the Brown Turkey, that small tree produces a truckload of fruit. The sweeter Black Jack, and, Black Mission fig trees are harvest lean, but wow are they good and delicious! Touted as the most alkaline of fruit, figs are one of the safest treats the body can have.

Why do we distinguish between alkaline and acidic foods? Because cancer cells are smart; they love acidic foods. This article is an attempt to promote eating alkaline foods versus the acidic ones. A list of alkaline foods follows for your convenience. Scroll down below, the list of alkaline foods is a large list, and, surprisingly varied. What a pleasure to recognize how tasty alkaline foods can be! Now, because it is relevant to this conversation, we will list the acidic foods, and, spices as well. First, we need to get educated. It is not surprising at all to see how meats are acidic. Lemons, which we think is acidic, produces the opposite because it helps in the digestion of food, and, drink. The end result is alkaline. The citric acid in lemons produces an alkaline effect in the system.

In Chinese medicine, we are aware of temperature. Food, drink, and herbs, have an intrinsic temperature. For example, Green tea is cold; it is good to use with inflammations, or, a fever. Cinnamon, a cold beer, medication, recreational drugs are hot. Note that a food’s acid or alkaline forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. Back to very acidic lemons whose end products produced after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline. Lemons are alkaline forming in the body. On the other hand, meat will test alkaline before digestion; it leaves a very acidic residue in the body so, like most animal products, meat is very acid-forming. However I recommend fish. Nourish your kidneys, whose pathway includes bones, marrow, and is manifested in your hair. I use salmon (Oh no! It’s on the acidic list!) for it’s Omegas to work on my heart, my skin, and maintain the color of my hair. It is most important to balance one’s diet by consuming more foods from the alkaline list.

There are several versions of the acidic and alkaline food chart to be found in different books and on various reliable sources on the Net. There are foods that are sometimes attributed to the acidic side of the chart and sometimes to the alkaline side. Remember, you don’t need to adhere strictly to the alkaline side of the chart, just make sure a good percentage of the foods you eat is alkaline. It’s about balance. Provided below is the Unknown pH’ list.

We live to enjoy food and drink. We can control the alkalinity of our of diets because we don’t want to become magnets to sickness with an acidic one. We adjust. We eat alkaline. We prevent cancer. We are what we eat. We want to live long, healthy, and cancer-free…
